Where It All Began – The Idea
As an experienced Sports medicine & arthroscopic surgeon, Dr. Prathmesh Jain often performed ACL reconstructions using both fixed loop and adjustable loop systems. Both had their own strengths, but neither felt complete. One offered stability, the other flexibility.
One day, while reflecting on these challenges, Dr. Jain imagined a device that could bridge this gap — something that combined the stability of a fixed loop with the flexibility of adjustability. In fact, it had been almost two decades since the introduction of the adjustable system, and yet, no company had taken a step forward to innovate a new approach in femoral fixation. Recognizing this long-standing gap, Dr. Jain set out to redefine the concept entirely.
That thought marked the beginning of what would later become the EcoButton™ Flex — a fixed loop system with micro adjustability.
Turning an Idea Into Reality
Dr. Jain shared his vision with Mr. Dipal Modi, the Technical Director at Osteocare Medical Pvt. Ltd. Inspired by the potential of the idea, he decided to take on the challenge of transforming it into a real product.
The R&D journey was anything but easy. Several prototypes were developed — and a few failed along the way. But persistence never wavered. Through countless trials, design refinements, and material tests, the team finally created a successful prototype — a hybrid loop capable of 5mm micro adjustability.
The product was then tested on dry bones and cadaver models, showing excellent results. When Dr. Prathmesh Jain himself used it and gave his final green signal, the team knew they had achieved something truly revolutionary.
The Patent Journey
With a unique innovation in hand, Osteocare Medical applied for a patent to protect the design and technology — a crucial step to safeguard intellectual property and ensure innovation integrity.
However, the road to approval wasn’t smooth. The team received multiple queries and search reports suggesting that similar products already existed and that the innovation wasn’t entirely new. But Osteocare stood firm.
Thanks to the relentless efforts of & Mr. Hardik Prajapati (Marketing Manager), Mr. Bhavik Shah (Director), Mr. Hitesh Patel (Director) & other Directors every concern was answered with solid evidence and documentation. Their determination ensured that the patent got approved.
Finally, on 23rd October 2025, Osteocare Medical Pvt. Ltd. was officially granted Patent No. 572479 by the Government of India for the invention titled “An Apparatus for Ligament Reconstruction with Unidirectional Adjustable Loop.”
The patent is valid for 20 years from 28th June 2023 — a proud milestone for the entire team.

The EcoButton™ Flex (Patented Unidirectional femoral fixation device) is the world’s first hybrid loop system for ligament reconstruction, offering both strength and micro adjustability.
Available in loop sizes of 15, 20, and 25 mm, it features:
- Fixed loop Concept with up to 5 mm unidirectional reduction when cinched
- UHMWPE fibers for superior tensile strength
- One-handed micro adjustment through the Tensioning Fiber

Once the button is flipped and initial fixation is done, surgeons can easily shorten the loop in a simple seesaw motion, allowing precise control and correction of graft laxity.
